New Website 07/02/2011

It's been in the offing for some time ... and finally it's happened.  Well, I've had the time to make it happen, but there is a new website to check out at boxingclever.com.au

I've made some changes - simplified it a little, and added a couple of extra elements that I hope people will find interesting and valuable.

This blog is the first.

Rather than worry about a NEWS section, like in the previous incarnation of the website, I figured a blog would be more practical, a little more informative - and perhaps a bit more fun.

There will be updates on work related topics - gigs I'm doing, gear I'm using, people I'm working with etc., but I'll try and add some other bits and pieces that people might find interesting too.  I'll aim at keeping references to the NY Mets to a minimum - but I can't promise that it will be a baseball free zone!!  Particularly with pitchers & catchers reporting in a few short weeks!!

I've also added a photography section to the site, which is something I have been meaning to do for some time.  Photography fascinates me ... the idea that an image captured in a split second could sum up a moment, a thought, a contest or whatever I find alluring.  The challenge I give myself is to try and sum up a "story" in one single frame ... it's not easy, particularly when your day job is to tell a story with 25 images every second!!

Check out the photo's though .. hopefully you like them, don't be afraid to pass comment on them here.  I'm interested to know what pictures resonate with people and for what reasons - or indeed, if there are any images that you find more mundane.

Whatever happens, if you are here because we already know each other - enjoy; maybe you'll find out something that you didn't already know.  If you're here and we haven't met - maybe there is an opportunity for us to work together, I hope that the new website gives you an indication of the variety of imagery I am capable of.

Hey Marty

It's been a while since I last caught up with you and quite randomly came across the bookmark for your site. It's looking good and I enjoyed catching some of the shorts.

I was taken by your comment about the challenge of photography versus film. I see it the other way around, being only a hobbyist photographer I see it easier to capture a moment (though quite often I miss it if my camera isn't in my hands, but that's another matter...) than to hold a viewer's attention which requires a good story, well-planned scene selections and co-operative subjects!

Anyway, from what you've posted, you're doing pretty well at the stills!

All the best

Nick
